Call for Teaching Artists: Youth Art Workshop
Project Overview Lodi Arts Foundation (LAF), in partnership with Lodi Adopt-A-Child (LAAC)and the Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin (CPFSJ), is seeking professional teaching artists to lead a one-day art workshop for local youth. This initiative aims to enrich the lives of children through the exploration of art and creativity while providing them with the skills to submit original work to an upcoming Lodi Adopt a Child art show in August 2026.
Workshop Description: Calling all young visionaries!
Join our Lodi Youth Art Workshop to begin crafting your masterpiece for the Lodi Adopt a Child “Windows of Imagination” Art Show in August 2026. In this session, you will work alongside a professional teaching artist to explore the official theme, sketch your ideas, and start creating your unique artwork. We provide all the necessary supplies, and you can take your project home to continue your work.
Eligibility: Open to students ages 8-18 attending school in the Lodi Unified School District.
Goal: Begin creating a submission-ready piece for the August 2026 show.
Workshop Details
Date: July 18, 2026. Time: 10a-12p
Possible second workshop: July 25, 10a-12p - if needed.
Location: 100 E. Pine St, Lodi, CA.
Target Audience: Youth ages 8–18, primarily students from the Lodi Unified School District (LUSD).
Format: The workshop will accommodate up to 45–50 students divided into three age/grade groups. Each group of 15 will have 1-2 volunteer “helpers”. Multiple teaching artists may be hired to accommodate the number of participants.
Objective: Provide a professional-level art lesson that encourages students to create an original piece based on the selected art show theme - “Imagine if you had a Superpower”!
Artist Responsibilities
Develop and deliver an engaging, age-appropriate art lesson.
Guide students in starting or completing a piece of art intended for the public showcase.
Work alongside organizers from LAAC, CPFSJ, and LAF to ensure a supportive environment for all youth.
Lodi Arts Foundation will provide art supplies - pencils, markers, papers, canvases, etc.
Qualifications
Professional expertise in your chosen artistic medium.
Experience teaching or mentoring youth, particularly in a community or classroom setting.
Ability to work with multi levels and ages.
A commitment to the Lodi Arts Foundation’s goal of creating transformative impact through the arts.
Spanish language skills are a bonus.
Support and Compensation:
$200 - (approximately 4-5 hours)
Each class will have volunteer “helpers” to support the participants and teaching artists.
